The committee wish all our members

a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.

v     A big thank you goes out to all our members who were able to support events during the year. The IPPHA is made up of people who give their time voluntarily as well as the use of their own equipment (cars, 4x4s, bbqs, phones, computers, printers and all the things that make an association run well).  No one expects anything in return, except to belong to a vibrant association. The members are the association, and as we look towards 2010 your continuing support and participation is vital to our ongoing success and enjoyment!

v     The Xmas Party this year: Jim Rowe has kindly offered a great deal in the Heritage Hotel in Portlaoise, on the 12th December starting at 8 o'clock and is open to all who wish to attend.  As this is a central location it should mean none of us have too much driving to do and most of us already know it's a great spot.  We will be meeting in the hotel bar, with finger food served and music will be as per hotel entertainment on the night. Please advise  Jim Rowe 0876488270 re your attendance, we look forward to seeing you there. For anyone wanting to stay overnight rooms will be available at a discounted rate of €40 pp B&B please also advise Jim.

v     The IAA: Prior to Xmas the I.P.P.H.A. representatives are due to attend a meeting with the I.A.A. in relation to finalising the details of a license for PPG in Ireland.  We would all like to congratulate Jerry Parles, who will be appointed by the I.A.A. as the first PPG examiner in Ireland.

v     New Members: we welcome all our new members who have recently joined. We wish you all a long and happy association with IPPHA and hope you can all make it to the Xmas Party.

v     Meeting with PPG Independent Pilots: Following on from the Fly-In we had a meeting in the Maldron Hotel on Sunday 8/11/09 with a group of Independent Pilots, it was very positive and constructive, and it was good to see that there was much common ground found at the meeting. Cathal Fowler showed some awesome video footage of his recent trip to Korea (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9V7GEOUGhk for the unofficial trailer) and gave a great account of his and Mike O'Sheas pioneering flight from Northern Ireland to the Mull Of Kintyre and back.

v     Websites: we have recently refreshed the website, it should now be easier to navigate and use. Our new feature on the front page titled “latest news” is a way of avoiding static, unchanging content. To do this, we are very much dependent on our members for updates and items of interest. So, please e-mail with news and/or photos on anything flying related you are proud of, your club/association website needs you.

Short Message Service, do we have your current mobile number, SMS:  is via mobile phone to all members. Each member receives advance notification of all club events in simple text message format (any member not wishing to participate please advise Jerry on 0862232955) if SMS is regarding flying please take the time
